Dear Readers,

As you count your blessings and close out 2015, I hope that 2016 will bring you the health, peace and prosperity that you desire.  Here is my wish list for 2016. You might find a few items to add to your New Year’s wish list as well:

January:  Inglewood gets the green light from NFL owners to build the football stadium.

February:  The spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and other great leaders will be reborn in this new generation during Black History Month. The fight for equality will be waged with respect and dignity.

April:  One of the highest voter turnouts in recent Inglewood history will occur.  Residents support candidates who will keep this city moving forward.

May:  A long awaited Farmer’s Market will be a permanent fixture in Inglewood by the spring.  Access to fresh, organic produce will begin to have an impact on the overall health of residents,  and eventually lead to lower rates of chronic disease within the city.

June:  Business will be booming when Inglewood Today celebrates its 22nd anniversary by rolling out new, innovative advertising programs for every size and type of business.

August:  Safe, fun and prosperous 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil.

September:  Inglewood schools regain local control; state takeover ends.

October:  City of Inglewood begins its new fiscal year on a high note, continuing to whittle away budgetary shortfalls.

November:  Election of a president who will continue the fight for social, economic and environmental justice, immigration reform and equal opportunity.

December:  The year will end with a new record of low crime in Inglewood and a reduction in shootings of black men by police in cities nationwide.

It’s a new year.  Anything is possible, so let’s believe for the best possible outcomes for 2016.
