If there was ever any doubt about the kind of reception the Rams would get in L.A. after leaving to play for St. Louis 20 years ago, and then returning, it is evident that the past has been left behind.
Fans at Saturday’s pre-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum welcomed the home team with open arms.
Excitement was in the air on August 13, and fans showed up 3-4 hours early to get the parties started.
This was the first game the Rams have played at the Coliseum since 1976, and 89,140 fans were more than ready for football to return to The City of Angels!
Tailgate parties were in full swing in the parking lots! People were having fun, taking pictures. Smells of delicious food were in the air and the music was blasting in the background.
The game got off to a rocky start when the Cowboys scored on the opening kickoff—a return of 101 yards.
Fans were shaken up, but when the announcer asked “Who’s house?,” Rams fans replied “Not in our house!”
It turned out to be one of the most exciting pre-season football games ever.
In the end, the Rams were victorious and came back strong to beat The Dallas Cowboys 28 to 24!
This is just game one. Imagine what it’s going to feel like when the Rams are in their own state-of-the art stadium in Inglewood. Meanwhile, just having our home team back feels pretty good.
