She didn’t want the ticket. And she bought it at a store where she normally doesn’t shop.
But Compton resident Jacqueline Brady wound up with a big prize from a $5 Power 5’s Scratcher ticket she bought at an Inglewood 7-Eleven on Nov. 20, Lottery officials.
Brady, 59, won $555,555, though she came close to telling the clerk she didn’t want the ticket.
“I almost didn’t buy it,” Brady told Lottery officials in a news release. “Thank you Jesus it was for me and I got it.”
Brady, who works with developmentally disabled adults, normally stops at a doughnut shop to buy scratch-off tickets. But on that night, she decided against the sweets and drove to the 7-Eleven at 3018 W. Manchester Blvd.
She asked the clerk for Scratchers, and he gave her a $5 Power 5. She wound up taking the ticket (her other Scratchers weren’t winners).
Brady told Lottery officials she plans on buying her dream car. “A Tahoe or the GMC Denali – black with tinted windows,” she said in the release, adding that “I’m also going to help everyone who has helped me.”
